INTENDED USE

The Kit is a rapid immunochromatographic assay for simultaneous detection of IGG and IGM antibodies against Zika virus in whole blood, serum or plasma. This method of analysis can only be used for research.

INTRODUCTION

Zika virus is a mosquito-transmitted flavivirus closely related to dengue virus, first isolated in the Zika Forest of Uganda in 1947. The virus is commonly found in Africa but has spread to Asia, South Pacific Islands and Latin America. It has reported that Zika virus may cause new born microcephaly and even new born fatality. Clinical symptoms of Zika virus infection include fever, conjunctivitis, transient arthritis/arthralgia and maculopapular rash that often starts on the face and then spreads thorough out the body. There is no specific therapy for zika virus infection. Patients are treated with pain relief medicine or anti-inflammatory medication if dengue infection can be ruled out. Zika Virus IgG/IgM Combo Test is a new generation rapid Immuno chromatographic test using recombinant Zika viral antigens to detect specific antibody response.

PRINCIPLE

When a specimen is added to the test, IgG and IgM antibodies in the specimen sample react with gold particles labled with Zika Virus envelope proteins. As this specimen/particle mixture migrates along the length of the test, the anti-Zika Virus IgG and/or IgM antibody particle complex is captured by the relevant IgG and IgM test bands located in the test device window causing a pale to dark red band to form at the test region of the cassette window. The intensity of the bands will vary depending upon the amount of antibody present in the sample. The appearance of any color in test region should be considered as positive for IgG and/or IgM antibody. A red procedural control line should always develop in the test device window to indicate that the test has been performed properly.
